Waterdrop review: tankless RO, countertop RO and whole-house systems

Waterdrop review: who it fits and what it sells

Waterdrop suits a household that wants a tankless reverse osmosis (RO) system under the sink or a countertop RO unit that needs no plumbing. It sells physical systems and filters on its own US store, priced in US dollars. There are no plans, no free trial and no free tier. What the store offers instead is its return policy, covered below.

Waterdrop sells five kinds of system. Choose the job first, then the cabinet.

• Tankless RO under the sink: the G3P600, G3P800, X12 and X16 have no storage tank, use a pump and need power.
• Countertop RO: the K19-SFK and C1S are units you fill by hand and plug in.
• Under-sink filters: Direct Connect and TSA have no RO membrane, and Direct Connect sits on the cold line.
• Whole house: the WHF3T-PG sits at the main water line.
• Pitchers: the PT-05 Elfin holds 5 cups.

Waterdrop prices by job, read on October 14, 2026

Every figure is a store price at the time of checking (October 14, 2026): the one-time price of the system alone. Replacement filters are extra, and Subscribe & Save on them is a discount that Waterdrop states as 5%. Sale figures that Waterdrop shows for a limited time are not used here.

GPD means gallons per day, the output rating of the membrane rather than the flow at the tap. The 3:1 figure is the pure-to-drain ratio: three gallons of treated water for each gallon sent to the drain.

Certification: what Waterdrop prints and what the listings show

Waterdrop's RO pages say IAPMO R&T, a certification body, certified the system against NSF/ANSI standards. Waterdrop's NSF page explains the numbers: 58 covers RO systems, 42 taste and odor, 53 health-effects contaminants and 372 lead-free materials, which is not a contaminant-reduction claim. The G3P800 page prints 42, 53, 58 and 372, and IAPMO R&T's directory lists the WD-G3P800 under those four.

The G3P600 is where the lists part: Waterdrop's spec line prints NSF/ANSI 42, 58 and 372, its certification heading adds 53, and its FAQ says 58 and 372 only. IAPMO R&T's directory lists the WD-G3P600 under 42, 53, 58 and 372, so check the line you need on the listing itself.

For the X12 and X16, Waterdrop's pages name a long set of reduced substances, while the directory's NSF/ANSI 58 rows for the WD-X12 and WD-X16 carry one reduction claim, total dissolved solids (TDS). NSF's own listing for the Waterdrop name shows cartridges, faucet-mount filters and pitchers, and no RO system. The WHF3T-PG page prints NSF/ANSI 372 only.

A Performance Data Sheet is the certifier's list of the claims a model was tested for. Your utility's Consumer Confidence Report, the annual water quality report EPA requires, lists the regulated contaminants found in local water; compare it with the data sheet. The Waterdrop certifications page goes model by model.

Installation: drain, outlet, faucet hole and pressure

Waterdrop says its RO systems are designed for DIY installation. A tankless unit needs a drain line nearby (a drain saddle is in the box), one electrical outlet and feed pressure of 14.5 to 87 psi. Waterdrop's compare page says the X16, X12 and G3P800 also need a hole drilled in the countertop for the faucet.

A renter in a city apartment who cannot drill the counter or change the plumbing fits the K19-SFK at $349.00: Waterdrop's page says it needs no installation or drilling and plugs into an outlet. Direct Connect filters join the cold line, so they suit a renter only where the plumbing may change.

Installers listed on Waterdrop's site are independent contractors. Private-well owners: Waterdrop says well feed water must go through pre-filtration first, and EPA's well guidance says to test the well every year with a laboratory certified for drinking water.

Returns, warranty and who should buy elsewhere

Waterdrop takes returns within 30 days of receipt. You pay return shipping unless the return is for a quality issue, items not in like-new condition carry a 10% restocking fee, and the policy covers the continental US only; Amazon orders are not eligible. Most Waterdrop RO systems carry a 1-year limited warranty and eligible X Series systems 2 years. In its favor: a 30-day price match on its own store and free Economy Shipping, which takes 4-8 business days.
